More Than A Moment Summit: How do we thrive in the 21st Century?

Friday 29 October 2021
11am to 4.30pm
Online Event

Friday 29 October 2021 will be one year to the day since the launch of the More Than A Moment pledge, to which almost 90 organisations have now signed up.

Twelve months on, this full-day summit is an opportunity to come together and explore how the West Midlands arts sector is taking action to ensure equity, investment in, and opportunities with and for the Black Creative Workforce, in order to make radical, long term and permanent change, and rebuild the cultural sector as a place where we can all truly thrive.

The first More Than A Moment annual summit will showcase the cultural transformation that is happening on a global, national and regional level.

Together we will uncover both the challenges and celebrations that have happened over the last 12 months across the West Midlands, and evidence the data and accountability required to embed the long term change, and focus on next steps.

This first annual More Than A Moment summit will invite participants to explore:

· One year on, what impact has the More Than A Moment pledge had?

· 21st Century leadership.

· Data, accountability and celebration.

· More than a moment in the 21st century

The day will include an inspiring programme of speakers from the arts sector and beyond, as well as performances, case studies, discussions and spaces for reflection and sharing*.

*Full programme to be announced soon.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The More Than A Moment summit is open to representatives from More Than A Moment pledge organisations, members of the Black creative workforce and under-served communities, and anyone who is interested in learning more about this work, leading in this work and becoming the change we need to see in the 21st century.

As with all More Than A Moment sessions, we ask that all participants come with a spirit of openness and generosity, be transparent and ready to share successes and challenges, and to join in honestly and wholeheartedly with discussions.

To ensure respect for everyone taking part, and to make this a safe and invigorating space, we ask that participants commit to being present for the whole event, and that cameras are kept on wherever possible throughout.

We recognize that it can be challenging to spend prolonged periods of time online, so we will incorporate regular breaks during the day.

There will be changes of pace and activity throughout by our amazing host, to make the More Than A Moment summit a comfortable and energizing experience.
