Innovating in Higher Education

Innovating in Higher Education

Ed Fidoe, Founder & CEO of the London Interdisciplinary School (LIS), joined us at our 2026 summit Murmuration and, based on attendee feedback, we are offering this WMCRU session as a ‘deep dive’ into the work of LIS. Ed will share the story of creating an institution designed to support undergraduates, graduates and professionals to tackle complex challenges. Ed will bring insights on innovating within the UK’s higher education system, and developing the LIS MBA around six shifts: complexity, intelligence, trust, energy, ecosystems and longevity.

Ed Fidoe is the founder and CEO at the London Interdisciplinary School (LIS), an institution designed to support undergraduates, graduates and professionals to tackle complex problems. Previously, Ed co-founded a 4-18 school in Stratford, London called School 21 and the UK’s leading oracy education charity, Voice 21. He has also consulted at McKinsey & Co., ran a theatre production company, and played in 80s hit TV show Woof! Ed holds degrees from Imperial and LSE, and has advised institutions including University of Cambridge, Teach First and Eton.

About WMCRU

Set up during COVID, our regular West Midlands Culture Response Unit (WMCRU) meetings were a vital lifeline for the sector in connecting, sharing and getting practical information and advice. WMCRU has continued to be a useful space for organisations and individuals that Culture Central continues to support as a collective and collaborative space for all those that are interested in the cultural ecology of the region. In 2024-25, WMCRU meetings will explore key strategic challenges and opportunities that affect the sector and the region.
