About the event
The cohort theme of Taking Up Space is inspired by the D.I.Y. spirit, vibrancy and resourcefulness of creatives who often bring places to life before major investment arrives.
It’s a nod to the individuals, creatives and collectives who are shaping culture, creating movements, and innovating genres, long before they have a name. They merge heritage, history, and the way they move through the world with the basic human needs of community and joy.
Their ideas then go on to influence architecture, fashion, music, nightlife, and the ways we come together in work and everyday life.
For this first event, we’re bringing together creatives from across the region for a kitchen takeover and pop-up dining experience by local chef Sarah Jenkins.
Food, like culture is constantly innovating. It draws on heritage, fuses styles, remixes tradition and brings people together. A kitchen takeover is our way of putting the Taking Up Space theory into practice. Making the most of what we have got, bringing people together and trying out new things in the process.
This vegan dining experience has been co-curated with Sarah Jenkins, founder and Head Chef of Host Dining. From major music events to kitchen takeovers and creative crime dinners, Sarah has been ‘taking up space’ and bringing people together through food for over 20 years.
This event is a celebration of us. As a network. As creatives, cultural enthusiasts, and wonderful humans of the West Midlands.

Want to join us?
Register your interest in the dinner here. Please note, this is a bespoke dining experience for the Inclusive Network cohort.
Our events are often over-subscribed, and we want to make sure everyone who would like to attend can join us. Please note that non-attendance or cancellation of a free place with less than 48 hours’ notice (with reasonable exemptions) means that we will be unable to make your space available for another member of the inclusive network and will mean that we will face irrecoverable venue and catering costs.
About Taking Up Space
Taking Up Space is a five-session regional programme celebrating inclusive creativity, activity and leadership. Through visits to live sites, specialist workshops and peer exchange, a cohort of 15 people will explore how to take up physical, creative, digital and decision-making space. Working together until March 2027, they will be building knowledge, relationships and the confidence to influence what happens next for creativity across the West Midlands, and as part of their own practice.
